Repairs

We have been in a frenzy of activity at our house preparing for our international student to come and stay with us next week. We are having a student come and visit us and our daughters' school for 2 and half weeks. She is coming to us all the way from Australia.

Well, it is simply amazing how a visitor you have never meet from across the world can kick start your renovation, deep cleaning, organizing your closets ambitions. I deep cleaned all my windows, washed all my window coverings, organized my daughters' rooms, rearranged furniture, etc. But nothing has compared to the floors...we pulled out our carpets to reveal our hardwood floors. Now we never expected to have pristine, fully finished, super shiny floors but we didn't expect this either! Who in the world does this to a floor, I ask you? Why? What is the purpose? Did you let a toddler loose in this house with a can of paint and a paint brush? I don't understand it...did polka dotted floors come into style and I wasn't aware?? Oh my gosh!!

Needless to say, it caused a ruckus at our little house...what are we going to do with these floors? Thankfully with a little bit of sleep, a bunch of research on facebook, and some advice from Sherwin Williams, we have our answer...now to just put in the elbow grease.

How true is this in life? More times than not we are optimistic and excited to start a new project only to have what is revealed be less than impressive and our enthusiasm quickly diminishes. But the good news is with a little sleep, some prayer, some research, a fresh perspective, and a whole lot of work we can get to what we had originally thought of when the project started. I find this to be true in areas of life other than just a home repair, it is a life lesson, something we all have deal with right? Pressing through when the going gets tough is hard but the end result is better than having polka dotted floors!
